Filter type

The kind of filtering algorithm. Descriptions are from MDN.

Low-pass Sounds like muffled audio through a wall. Standard second-order resonant low-pass filter with 12dB/octave rolloff. Frequencies below the cutoff pass through; frequencies above it are attenuated. High-pass Sounds like audio coming out of phone or earphone speakers. Standard second-order resonant high-pass filter with 12dB/octave rolloff. Frequencies below the cutoff are attenuated; frequencies above it pass through. Band-pass Standard second-order band-pass filter. Frequencies outside the given range of frequencies are attenuated; the frequencies inside it pass through. Low-shelf Sounds like bass-boosted audio. Standard second-order low-shelf filter. Frequencies lower than the frequency get a boost, or an attenuation; frequencies over it are unchanged. High-shelf Sounds like music being played while on hold. Standard second-order high-shelf filter. Frequencies higher than the frequency get a boost or an attenuation; frequencies lower than it are unchanged. Peaking Frequencies inside the range get a boost or an attenuation; frequencies outside it are unchanged. Notch Standard notch filter, also called a band-stop or band-rejection filter. It is the opposite of a bandpass filter: frequencies outside the give range of frequencies pass through; frequencies inside it are attenuated. All-pass Standard second-order all-pass filter. It lets all frequencies through, but changes the phase-relationship between the various frequencies.

Frequency (Hz) The frequency in the current filtering algorithm measured in hertz (Hz), with a nominal range of 10 to the Nyquist frequency—that is, half of the sample rate.

Detune Detune the frequency in cents. Quality (Q) factor A dimensionless value with a default value of 1 and a nominal range of 0.0001 to 1000.

Gain (dB) Represents the gain used in the current filtering algorithm. When positive, it represents a real gain; when negative, it represents an attenuation. It is expressed in dB, has a default value of 0, and can take a value in a nominal range of -40 to 40.
